You know, whether or not Birdy received a lot of positive reinforcements like praise and encouragement when she was first starting out to help her keep playing music, it takes real guts to put yourself and your talents in front of the world as a fifteen year old kid. When I think of the people who do have the courage to go after their dreams and let their talents shine forth, I can’t help but think of all the people who don’t. Sometimes it can be scary to show our talents to the world because it’s always possible that what we view as talents others will view as barely worth remark or even as defects. Maybe no one else has ever really believed in you. Maybe you don’t believe in yourself. But you’ll never know how far you can go unless you throw caution to the wind, trusting that deep voice inside you telling you that you have what it takes and that you deserve to become the person you were meant to be.
Actually this is the process of yoga in a nutshell, we can’t really separate self-actualization from yoga. Don’t just let yourself be inspired by great songs like this one during your practice, let yourself be inspired by yourself as you continue to grow and improve, remembering that if you can do it on your mat you can do it anywhere else.
